Is the Press Freedom in India Threatened?

This is the most controversial topic trending nowadays. The people in India and the world know that press is a medium through which they can voice out their concern effectively and efficiently.
It is an unbiased press who make common people acquainted about deep controversies going in the political and apolitical spheres. In Indian constitution, Press is counted as the fourth pillar of democracy. So, to ensure true democracy, the press should have enough freedom to voice out anything in the welfare of India and its citizens.

Virtual mapping for defamation
This question of freedom of the press is moving on Twitter, Facebook and all social platforms like a jungle fire. In India, the practices of dominating press for the benefit of a group came in the public domain by some press bodies. The rival press bodies blame each other for supporting counter views and questions their intensions and nature of duties. The practice of defaming the rivals resulted in the defamation of the whole profession.
For example, we can refer to “the telegraph” and “the Indian express”, these newspapers are blamed for supporting a political party’s propagenda.

A doubt that emerged recently
These recent years have proved crucial for the press and the general public of India. We both saw changes around us and got affected. The role of the press is to aware the people about the different perspectives of the things happening around them and make the concerned authorities aware about the sufferings of Indian citizens, but some press bodies took one side and advocated it strongly. It made the general public question the freedom and intention of the press and created a feeling of disbelief.
For example, in the time of delhi riots, some press bodies weren’t showing the suffering of a section of people. The practise of defaming people in the time of corona was also there in a region of uttar pradesh. Later, regional police falsified such allegations.

Let’s go inside their shoes
Any commercial unit needs some capital to work and grow. The press bodies require funds to collect and present true news to their audience. The press bodies who are showing issues and interest of people in majority and ruling bodies are likely to get more favour by them so they will not get short of funds.
Some press bodies who want to show sufferings of both sides will be disliked by the ruling bodies and the people in the majority. They will not get enough funds to run and administer their organization effectively. So, the chances of their suffering are more and as its result, the freedom of the press is compromised.

The threat on the freedom of press can’t be denied completely as some rumours and real shreds of evidence of incomplete or mutilated reporting are witnessed by common people. People have started to not rely on and believe in the press for everything. Now, an aware citizen researches a piece of particular news before coming onto a conclusion.

Cost of being sensitive

When everybody is bombarding harsh word bombs, I chose to be gentle. I decided that I would not judge anybody so early but as the time passes, I got changed because I was sensitive. I sensed the world around me and my inner system reacted. My nervous system directed my mind to react in a way that was most appropriate. The brain received message and investigated the appropriation in the ways that it has noticed in its lifetime. it found some reactions that was bundled up in its memory. so, it took one of them hurriedly and surpasses it to the nervous system but while it was passing it,something inside it was opposing. The brain hadn’t much time to look to that rebellion so it gave the reaction to the nerve the same reaction that was being repeated in the society from a time.

But after handling out the reaction, the oppression inside it didn’t left the brain to sit in peace. It started to question again and again. It made brain to invite the ‘Justification’ and ‘Values’ into the debate. The values was not single ,it came in a group that got collected in the brain since it’s birth. The ‘Values’ started to fight with each other and it became difficult for the ‘Justification’ to do its work properly.

Then ‘justification’ suggested brain to call ‘nothingness’ into the debate. ‘Nothingness’ was invited . The ‘Justification’ purported the ‘Nothingness’ to occupy mind. so that ‘values’ could be placed orderly into their place. The ‘values’ were distinctly placed . The justification filled ‘Nothingness’ between the ‘values’, so that they won’t collide. And after judging the fallibility of the values in that particular situation the ‘Justification’ justified the reaction of brain, that it took and the brain felt relieved.

My balcony

In quarantine days, my balcony is my saviour. It provides me entrances to the entertainment that flew away when lockdown was applied for our wellbeing. The people like me who are living away from their beloved are connected to the world outside more than anything. Living away from their beloveds was our own choice. We had our reason. Some of us was wrongly treated and some want to focus on their goals. The wings inside us has formatted our body in a way that it wants to witness everything. Being introverts, we rarely talk to people but we urge to observe things that is going around us and in the world outside. My balcony is a rescuer that gives me opportunity to observe people being at a distance from them. From my balcony, I analyse varieties in human behaviour when they face common things. Their facial reaction and utterances while doing the darings make me think about process of growing up in common situations.

In the years of our lifetime when we grow up, we criticize people for their inability to do and think like we think. But in some sense, we both are able and unable at the same time in living our life in our own way and not able to acknowledge other. My balcony equip me in such a way that I can hide my presence in times when I am overhearing someone’s matter and I don’t want them to feel my presence because it can make them uneasy.

In my small yet glorious balcony, l do my daily Chorus so comfortably while sneaking and stealing out some moments for entertainment from the streets of my colony. From my balcony I feel astonished when I see aggression in the eyes of dogs when they bark on the dogs of other gang. From my balcony I watch how cats sneakingly trying to find a way to enter in the kitchen. From my balcony, I observe the frustation of couples after long years of marriage. From my balcony, I see an old-age lady showering love on plants . The glances that get from my balcony rescues me from getting into the doom of laziness and aware me about the multitudes of perceptions on human nature and life.

Japan versus Italy fight against covid-19

Covid-19 has become a threat on the human life worldwide as it is spreading in the masses in the speed metaphorically similar to bullet train. Italy is witnessing the highest death toll by the noble corona virus .On media, Italy is continuously uploading videos and messages globally to show what mistakes they had done in past that became the reason for such fatal tragedy on the country. Whereas, we have the example of country like japan that successfully limited the spread of corona in the country being very near to the China which is the origin of the covid-19 virus.

Mistakes committed by the Italy
In view of the first death in the Italy, the country imposed a localized lockdown. but the people who were outside the red zone area, continued to visit bars, discos, socializing, hugging, kissing etc., neglecting the govt advisories.

How japan encountered covid-19?
Japan is a country which learns from it’s past and adopts conscious steps and habits to fight anything similar in the future.
In 2002 or 2003, japan was stricken by the severe pandemic disease which resulted in numerous deaths in Japan country. Learning from this mistake, japan adopted a culture of wearing masks while travelling outside. Earlier 3-4 among 10 used to wear masks but as the news of arrival of new corona virus covid-19 spreads, approximately 8-9 people out of 10 started to wear masks.
Here, the culture of Japan also played the major role in hindering the spread of corona virus in the community. In Japan culture, people don’t shake hands to say hello instead they bow down in front of each other to greet people.

Point to be noted
In India, we should learn from the examples. Do not take this threat for granted as we have the example of Italy. Be brave and participate actively to root out corona at global level.
• Avoid socializing as much as you can.
• Stay safe in your home
• Wear mask and sanitize yourself frequently
• In case it’s very urgent to go out then use all necessary safety precautions.
